MUMBAI: Popstress Jennifer Lopez has dethroned Lady Gaga to top the annual Forbes list of the 100 most powerful celebrities in the world. The rankings were derived from a combination of earnings, press coverage and internet presence of the artistes.

Singer of tracks like ‘Let’s Get Loud’ and ‘Love Don’t Talk Cost a Thing’, Lopez amassed total earnings of $52 million over 2011 and hurtled upwards from the number 50 slot she occupied last year. The second position was bagged by media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

The singer’s fame was boosted by her press mentions, including appearances on 46 major magazine covers, topping People’s 2011 Most Beautiful list and being named as Glamour Woman of the Year.

Teen-pop sensation Justin Beiber has ranked third while Rihanna occupied the fourth spot. Paparazzi queen Lady Gaga had to vacate her number one position last year and was placed fifth on the list.

Rounding off the top 10 on the Celebrity 100 were Britney Spears in sixth place, one spot ahead of Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry in eighth, Tom Cruise in ninth and Steven Spielberg at tenth.
