Jay Sean starts Vh1's Global Music Xpress in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Global music Xpress, an initiative of international music channel Vh1 kickstarted with R&B artiste Jay Sean performing at the Hard Rock Caf?© on Wednesday night.

The RnB sensation performed hits like 'Stolen', 'Eyes on you' and his latest chart topper 'Ride it' from his new album 'My own way'. Sean was received by a packed house in Mumbai. The British singer and song writer who had started his career in 2003 with first single 'Dance with you' in collaboration with Rishi Rich and Juggy D was accompanied by UK Beatbox Champion MC Zani this time. Jay demonstrated his beat box skills while performing his new track 'Maybe' . Later both Sean and Zani performed a freestyle acapella version of 'Ride It'.

So far Sean has released two albums, 'Me Against Myself' (2004) and 'My Own Way' (2008). But before anybody could ask him where he had disappeared for four years after the release of his first album, Jay answered the curious crowd, "I was touring and promoting my new album and that took me more than two years!" In India, his first album 'Me Against Myself' reached number one , selling at maximum price in-store , the album had received massive airplay prior to its release. Jay also featured in a cameo performance in the Bollywood movie 'Kyaa Kool Hai Hum' which involved a four day shoot for his video 'One Night' in Mumbai.

In future, as a part of Global Music Xpress intiative, Vh1 will be bringing down artistes and music from around the globe for LIVE performances every 45 days. Six international artistes are set to perform at 24 gigs over a period of nine months.

Sean will be performing next in Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad.
