Jaaved Ali to bond with Rahman again in Raavana, Telugu project

MUMBAI: After bagging accolades for A R Rahman's â€?Jaashen E Bahara' from â€?Jodha Akhbar' and â€?Guzaarish' from Ghajini, singer Jaaved Ali has announced his arrival in the music industry with a clutch of projects in his kitty.

Talking about his journey so far in the industry, Jaaved says, I had no idea that I would actually land up in the industry. My first song was for Govinda's flick Beti no.1' after which Haasil, Pagalpan and Chameli followed. My first turning point was when I recorded a track with Pritam for the movie Naqaab'.

Mentioning his big break with Rahman the singer says, There was a requirement for a new singer for Jodha Akhbar's track and my name was recommended. Jashan-E-Bahara' helped me carve my niche. It was instrumental in opening the doors for me and helped me bag good work.

People knew my name but Jashen-E-Bahara opened the avenues for me. Big names in the industry are now showing interest in working with me,... he adds enthusiastically. It was difficult in the beginning because I had no godfather. I saw the working of the industry and eventually started getting work,...

Quips the singer retrospectively. The doors of the industry are opened for newcomers now. If you have talent only then you will survive. Composers are not adamant about using a particular name or voice. They are opened to experimentation which helped people like me to enter the industry,... he further elaborates.

Talking about his association with Rahman Jaaved says, Working with Rahman is an achievement in itself. I consider myself very lucky having worked with him so upclose for a couple of songs. Some people even call me his favourite,... says Jaaved.

The singer laments the plagiarism issue that hovers around his mentor Pritam and says, Every person gets inspired. But at the end of the day his songs are popular with the masses. A lot of people do resort to it but at the end of the day it is only his compositions that work.... One should get inspired but not copy the song entirely....

On being quizzed about venturing into non-film music he adds, I have got a lot offers for releasing an album. I have sung few songs for an album called Jiya Jaye Na'. I would like to cut an album eventually though right now I am concentrating on singing for movies. I don't believe in doing too many things at the same time....

The singer has his plate full with a lot of projects. â€?Ravaana' by Rahman is one of the project for which he has lent his vocals. I have crooned one track for the film,... says Jaaved.  Ravaana brings the Oscar winning pair of Rahman and Gulzar together. He is also singing for one of Rahman's Telugu project as well and has several other regional projects as well.

His other projects includes Ashutosh Gowariker's What's your Raashee?' for which he has crooned one track. I have also recorded a couple of songs for Pritam, Himmesh and Monty Sharma. I have also recorded a song with Shankar Ehsaan Loy for Boney Kapoor's next and have lent my vocals for Indra Kumar's next venture as well,... concludes Jaaved.
