MUMBAI: Ishqiya bagged four national awards in music category, at the prestigious 58th National Film Awards announced on Thursday, 19 May in New Delhi.

For Ishqiya, Vishal Bharadwaj won the Best music director and wife Rekha Bharadwaj received the award for best playback singer, in Best audiography category Kamod Karade was honored with Best sound recordist award while Debajit Changmai was acknowledged with 'Best Re-recordist of the final mixed track'.

The other awardees in the music categories include, Suresh Wadkar for Best male playback singer in Mee Sindhutai Sapkal (Marathi film), Vairamuthu received best lyricist awards for Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru (Tamil), Subhadeep Sengupta for Best sound designer in Chitrasutram (Malayalam film) and Issak Thomas Kottakapally for Best background Score in Adaminte Makan Abu (Malayalam film).

In the Non- Feature Film Category, Harikumar Madhavan Nair won Re-recordist (final mixed track) award in Best Audiography category for documentary - A Pestering Journey (Malayalam, Punjabi, Hindi English & Tulu).

Vishal Bhardwaj said, "I am really honoured to receive this National Award for the film, I feel the music of Ishqiya is one of my best, so far and Rekha got her first national award as the best female playback singer makes it even more special for me."

Feature Films jury was headed by JP Dutta, Non-Feature Films jury was headed by AK Bir and the Best Writing on Cinema jury was headed by Ashok Vajpeyi.
