IPL Rockstar to launch on Colors

MUMBAI: Three days from now, Colors 'cricketainment' property IPL Rockstar will be launched on 13 March. This will be the first time in India when music and criket will go side by side.

Colors has roped in Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher to judge the 12 contestants who have been part of various reality music shows.

The 12 contestants taking part in this are Amit Paul, Sandeep Acharya, Harshdeep Kaur, Sumedha Karmahe, Mohammad Irfan, Saptaparna Chakraborty, Antara Mitra, Reecha Tripathy, Arnab Chakraborty, Rahul Saxena and Aishwariya Nigam.

IPL franchise owners like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty will also be part of the judging panel, while the show will be hosted by Rapper Hard Kaur.

On being part of this unique show Hard Kaur says, I have been a singer and also a dancer before. However, this is going to be my first ever time as an anchor. Anchoring a show of such magnitude is very intimidating and yet very exciting. Moreover, this show also has that extra zing of being associated with cricket. With so many cricket and music fans in the audience, I just hope I am able to do a great job at anchoring the show. But one thing I am sure of, this show is going to be one of the biggest music concerts India has ever seen!...

The channel has shortlisted six stadiums – Mohali, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bangalore - where the IPL Rockstar will be shot.

Kailash Kher, who has judged many competitions before feels this as the perfect combining of India's two great passions - Cricket and Music. "Being a jury member on a show of such magnitude is overwhelming. Also, it is very exciting that the contestants are not new comers, rather are well trained singers who have proven their worth through earlier achievements. Furthermore, the ambience and the backdrop of the stadium will provide the perfect platform to identify for the True IPL Rockstar of 2010....

Co-judge Sukhwinder Singh feels that IPL Rockstar will redefine live shows. "The participants in this show are winners of various other reality shows. Having proved their mettle earlier, the level of performance should be much better and way higher than ever before. The best part of this being a live show is that the reaction of the crowd will be instant and in real time."

Produced by Endemol India, IPL Rockstar will span over seven weeks. 12 singers will be devided in two groups. One group will perform on one day and second on other. The show will follow the elimination format based on the decision of judges only.

The hour long reality show is being promoted under the brand 'IPL Ka Tadka', and will air every Saturday-Sunday at 7 pm, just before the 8 pm IPL matches.
