Indian Idol 6 kicks off auditions

MUMBAI: As digital media has become a prominent promotional tool for independent artiste,  singing reality show Indian Idol in its sixth season has introduced web auditions to reach a wider audience.

For the first time ever, Indian Idol is giving participants an opportunity to audition online.

Participants can upload their performance videos and stand a chance to perform in front of the judges by  logging on to MyIndianIdol.com. Sunidhi Chauhan, Anu Malik and Salim Merchant are the judges for this season. The website also features past seasons of Indian Idol, videos, images, blogs, chats with favourite contestants, behind the scene snippets, best moments both on and off the etc. MSM also plans to launch a mobile application soon. Participants can also share their uploaded videos with their friends across many social networking sites.

Sony Entertainment Network SVP –new media, business development and digital/syndication  Nitesh Kripalani said, “For the first time in Indian Idol’s history, MyIndianIdol.com will provide an online platform to discover talent across India. With the number of Internet users crossing 100m in India, this will give us another method of reaching out to talent across the country. Within five hours of launching the site, we had more than 30 audition video uploads from across the country. Log on to MyIndianIdol.com and jump the queue on India’s most awaited Indian Idol Season 6.”
