India Radio Forum 2011 to focus on interactivity in medium

MUMBAI: India's radio industry will convene once again under the aegis of the India Radio Forum (IRF), on Thursday, 26th May, 2011 in Mumbai, organised by Partners in Media Asia (PIM).

This year the Forum will focus on interactivity in the medium, Phase III, forward trends, local growth, and the advent of digital media. This year IRF has introduced 10 additional award categories.

With a nod to the impending round of licensing in Phase III, the panel moderated by TAM Media Research CEO LV Krishnan, will discuss about where radio stands today and its way forward with Radio City COO Ashit Kukian, Oye! FM executive director & CEO G Krishnan, My FM CEO Harrish M Bhatia, Radio Mirchi executive director & CEO Prashant Panday, Radio Mantra director Rahul Gupta, Red FM business head Rana Barua and Big FM CEO Tarun Katial.

The other sessions 'Radio and the Media Mix' and 'Broadening the Reach:
Planning for Radio' with advertising experts, will discuss issues faced by planning, creative as well as station teams.

Jon Simon from Cimarron Digital Hollywood will talk on taming the digital wave and will share insights on how radio stations can become digital media leaders. Jake Abdullah of Malaysia's AMP Radio, will head a session on content and programming; Suman Srivastava of Marketing Unplugged will speak on alternative revenue streams.

Apart from the panel sessions and the awards ceremony, this year the IRF will unveil its inaugural 'Radio Pitch' challenge where teams from media agencies will conduct a five-minute pitch in front of a panel and each team must present 16 slides in four minutes, ending with a radio promo lasting not more than a minute. The winning team will be rewarded with a pair of Grandstand tickets worth US$2070 to the 2011 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix (23-25 September). The winner will be announced at the Excellence in Radio Awards (ERA AWARDS)ceremony.
