Ilaiyaraaja's composition at London Olympics 2012 inaugural ceremony

MUMBAI: After being bestowed with numerous honours in the past, acclaimed music composer Ilaiyaraaja has added another feather in his cap. The track ‘Nanthaan Ungappanda’ composed by Ilaiyaraaja and rendered by S P Balasubramanyam is part of the 86 track playlist for the gala that is being directed by acclaimed Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle. The ceremony will be held on 27 July.

The opening ceremony titled ‘The Isles of Wonder’ will also feature tracks by artistes like Michael Jackson, Adele, Sex Pistols, M.I.A. (Mathangi ‘Maya’ Arulpragasam) and Amy Winehouse amongst others. Boyle plans to have a medley of songs for the event.
