MUMBAI: International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) will host a music workshop– ‘Music: Bringing Indian Cinema Alive’ on 9 June 2012 in the Lion City, Singapore. The workshop will emphasize on exploring the elements that go into the creation of a song from composition and lyrics to the arrangement and singing. Eminent personalities from film and music industry who will feature at the workshop include Vishal-Shekhar, Shantanu Moitra, Javed Akhtar, Prasoon Josh, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Zoya Akhtar. Industry veteran Atul Churamani will moderate the session with directors and musicians. The interactive session will witness anecdotes, trivia, and personal experiences of these celebrities. The workshop will showcase the talent of the experts as they will compose brand new songs before a live audience. For eg, a film situation will be given by one of the film directors to which a composer delivers a tune after which lyrics are introduced. Likewise, in another scenario presented by another director, a set of lyrics will be introduced first and then the tune will be created. The songs that come out of these situations will then be sung and performed by a set of renowned singers from the industry. Indian singers who are expected to attend the event include Ash King, Hariharan, Harshdeep Kaur, Kamal Khan, Lesle Lewis, Mika, Mohit Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal and Usha Uthup among others. Directors, producers and other Indian film industry personalities as well as students of film and music, world media and music professionals will also attend the event. IIFA, this year, will include a line-up of mega events like the IIFA World Premiere, IIFA Rocks, the IIFA Film & Music workshop and eventually the IIFA Awards. Over the years, IIFA has emerged as the most prestigious platform recognising excellence in the Indian film industry. Year on year, the biggest names of Indian cinema congregate at the IIFA Weekend and Awards to celebrate the best contribution made to the world of films in the previous year. t also establishes a symbiotic relationship between India and the host country in areas such as tourism, culture and trade. The 13th Videocon IIFA awards will be held from 7-9 June 2012 in Singapore.
