I-Rock Day 2 turnout impressive despite Mumbai rains

MUMBAI: Despite the rains, and rough weather, puddles, and constant drizzling, Mumbai's rock music lovers turned out in hordes at the Independence Rock XXIV to watch some of the nation's best pro bands.

I thought hardly 30-40 people will turnout in this weather – look at you guys!... said Suraj Mani, vocalist of MotherJane as the revelers roared. Approximately, 3000 concertgoers soaked themselves to music yesterday.

The inspiring line-up included Mother Jane, Silver, Warren and Friends, Bhayanak Maut and Reverse Polarity – there was something for everybody

For the lovers of old school rock music, Warren and Friends were eagerly awaited. The popular lead guitarist of Zero, Warren Medonsa, came from New Zealand for this gig and  was joined by Farhad Wadia, Loy Medonsa (of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) Bobby Talwar (Zero) and Jay (Bhayanak Maut's drummer) for an inspiring 30 minute set that included his songs like Christmas in July and cover version of Jimi Hendrix's Fire.

A good musician and singer himself, E-18 CEO Farhad Wadia  joined the band to sing Sweet Home Maharashtra/ Alabama for the Mumbai audience. I don't want any hassles, if there are any MNS guys here,... he joked. .

Motherjane, Warren and friends were certainly the crowd pullers of the evening. While Motherjane are known to give the best possible experience, Warren Medonsa was awaited because it had been many years, that Mumbai saw their favorite guitar player do some magic with his fingers and frets

All in all, a great day – the weather didn't seem that bad with all that music!
