Hutch, NCPA to host musical festival with Indian maestros

MUMBAI: India`s Telecom service provider Hutch and National centre for Performing Arts (NCPA)has announced the `Kala Utsav` Festival of Music and Dance, which will be held daily at the NCPA auditorium, Mumbai from 8 - 11 February at 7 pm. This Event will be bringing together great Indian maestros in the field of performing arts such as Gulzar, Leela Samson, Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Trilok Gurtu,Louis Banks , Kishori Amonkar, Bhupinder and Mitali Singh, who will play their unheard compositions for the first time ever. The performances will range from conversations and solo acts to fusion music by the performing artists, states the release.

The opening show will be dedicated to the great poet, lyricist and director Gulzar `Parvaazei Bayan Aur:The Uni-verse of Gulzar," a one -on -one conversation with a theatre personality Vijaya Mehta, who will take the audience through Gulzar`s journey in the Indian film industry by way of narrations, performances and short films on the various milestones that defines Gulzar.

Eternal Sound - Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia ,Trilok Gurtu and Louis Bank will add another dimension to the event through a perfect fusion of North Indian Classical Flute, Indian Percussion and western drumming and they will perform on 9 February.

Spanda: Viberation - Leela Samson, a gifted performer and teacher of Bharata Natyam will present `Spanda` on 10 February. Spanda is her comprehension of `vibration` - that is Symbolic of the enduring and perpetual energy, which is the life force of the universe.

The fourth day celebration of music and dance will end with `In reverence` a recital by Kishori Amonkar on 11 February, charming the audience with rare melodies by her mother Smt Mogubai Kurdikar, from the Jaipur -Autrauli repertoire.

Hutch will offer its customers in Mumbai an exclusive opportunity to book a season ticket from 1-3 February , before the sale of tickets is thrown open to other music and performing arts enthusiasts. Season tickets are available in a denomination of Rs 1500, Rs 1000, Rs 600, daily tickets booking will be open for all at the venue from 6 February onwards. Daily tickets are available in a denomination of Rs 500, Rs 300, Rs 200.
