HT Media's Radio & Ent arm grows revenue, shows profit

MUMBAI: HT Media Ltd's Radio Broadcast and Entertainment (RB&E) vertical ( Fever 104 FM, which broadcast in four metros Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Banglore) has registered strong growth in its revenue for the quarter ended 30th September 2010  as compared to the same quarter results of 2009, according to the Company's Financial Results for the Quarter ended September 20, 2010.

Showing a markedly improved performance over the last year, the RB&E division  grew its revenue for the quarter July-Sept 2010 growing by a robust 46% to Rs. 1,414 lacs as compared to Rs. 970 lacs for same quarter last year. Significantly, the division is no longer a loss-making one, as it emerged from the red with a small Profit before tax and interest of Rs. 58 lacs,  as against a loss of Rs. 237 lacs for the same quarter last year.

Even as higher advertising revenues have seen the division turn around from loss to profit,  there has been significant investment in the RB&E division. When compared to end-Sept 2009, the capital employed in end-Sept 2010 has risen by 54.11% from a figure of Rs 4937 lacs to Rs 7648 lacs.

Overall, HT Media Ltd has reported a healthy increase of 61 per cent in its net profit for the quarter, riding higher advertising revenues as compared to same period of July-September -  2009, with the net profit of the company at Rs 38.8 crore for the period, up from Rs 24.1 crore in 2009. Net revenues for the quarter rose by 27% in July-September 2010, to touch Rs 445.4 crore.
