Guinness record attempt by choir to mark Beatles 50th anniversary

MUMBAI: More than a 1,000 member strong choir will try and break the Guinness World Record by performing the Fab Four’s classic and first hit ‘Love Me Do’ to mark the band’s first single which was recorded 50 years ago. The choir’s record-breaking attempt for the ‘most people singing in a round’ will take place at the Beatles’ hometown Liverpool. The record currently stands at 897.

The choir, which is estimated to be at least 1,200 member strong  is to be added to the Guinness world record-breaking attempt Friday in the Beatles' hometown of Liverpool to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the debut of the group's first single "Love Me Do," the city announced today.

Fans, schools, the choir members and tourists will come together on Friday at the city's Cruise Liner Terminal singing the tune on the Princes Dock to attempt to break the record for "most people singing in a round."

The event, which was announced in July, will take place at Liverpool’s Princess Dock on 5 October.

The record-breaking event was conceived by the Beatles Story museum and Albert Dock and is supported by Liverpool City Council. It is part of a year-long program of events across the city to mark ‘Liverpool Celebrates 50 Years Of The Beatles,’ report said.
