Grammy Museum to host Whitney Houston exhibition

MUMBAI: The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles is all set to host an exhibition dedicated to the late multi-million soul singer Whitney Houston beginning next month.

The event titled “Whitney! Celebrating the Musical Legacy of Whitney Houston” will commence from 15 August and is expected to run until February 2013 in the Special Exhibits Gallery of the museum. The exhibition is being billed as the first major museum exhibition devoted to the late singer’s life and career.

The singer’s memorabilia including the white beaded gown she wore at the 1994 Grammy Awards, photographs, albums and her Bible will be some of the items on display following her death in February. The exhibits are being assembled in cooperation with Houston’s family and will include interviews with friends, colleagues and family members.

Whitney Houston’s manager Pat Houston said, “This exhibition is a token of appreciation from our family for Whitney’s fans to enjoy and embrace. We hope they are as elated as we are to have shared in such a remarkable life.”

Museum executive director Robert Santelli said, “We are particularly excited to showcase her long connection to the Grammy Awards show and to celebrate the musical genius that made her one of America’s most-awarded pop and soul vocalists.”
