MUMBAI: British commercial radio operator Global Radio is all set to foray into the television medium with launch of two 24-hour music channels Heart and Capital TV. Based on its Heart and Capital brands, the channels will launch in September on Sky and Freesat platforms. The company will launch a new division called Global Television to oversee the new channels. The channels will feature non-stop music videos aiming to enhance their brand identity by targeting audiences in the same demographics as the radio station. Global Radio founder and executive president Ashley Tabor said, “Global prides itself on clear, simple brand propositions for its consumers. Brand extension is a natural thing for us to do for example online, mobile and live events, so I am delighted that we are now bringing both Heart and Capital’s top-class brand quality to music television.” Following the takeover of GMG Radio, in a deal thought to be worth between £50m and £70m last week, Global Radio is now UK’s largest commercial radio operator.
