Glenn Beck signs $100mn radio deal with Premiere Networks

MUMBAI: Radio host Glenn Beck has inked a five-year contract worth $100 million with Premiere Networks Inc extending their longstanding alliance in digital media. The announcement was made yesterday by Beck and Premiere Networks Inc, a unit of Clear Channel Communications Inc.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in national radio syndication this year, the company claims that ‘The Glenn Beck Program’ is the third-highest rated radio show in the US with a growth rate of 50 per cent. The program airs in more than 400 markets from 9am-12pm.

Premiere Networks and Mercury Radio Arts (Beck’s company), also extended their deal under which Premiere represents Beck’s web properties including streaming video network GBTV, news and information site TheBlaze.com, e-commerce marketplace Markdown.com and fan portal GlennBeck.com to advertisers and sponsors.

Premiere Networks president Julie Talbott said, “Since we began our relationship 10 years ago, Glenn has not only built an incredible connection to his audience on multiple platforms, but has also established himself as a true talent and visionary. We are incredibly proud of the continued growth and success of our partnership with Glenn and Mercury Radio Arts, and look forward to working together for many more years to come.”

The new deal comes almost a year after Beck left Fox News to start his own Internet-based network, GBTV. The conservative talk show host parted ways with Fox News Channel last year after his TV show’s audiences reduced and advertisers staged a boycott following his comment that US president Barack Obama had ‘a deep-seated hatred for white people’.
