Ghazal legend Ghulam Ali launches biography

MUMBAI: Legendary ghazal singer Ghulam Ali has launched his biography titled ‘Ghazal Wizard Ghulam Ali: The Life, Times & Experiences of a Living Legend'. The book narrates the story of his life and the experiences that he has faced in different situations.

Penned by two Indian writers Bhavesh Sheth and Sadhana Jejurikar, the music lovers and ardent fans of the maestro pay their tribute by putting together the life and times of the legendary ghazal maestro.

Present at the occasion along with Ali and the co-authors were Hariharan, Talat Aziz and Uttam Singh.

The book features different aspects of his life including the story of a son who lives the unfulfilled dream of his father, who could not become a singer and had to confine himself to playing the Sarangi. It brings forth discipline, dedication, hard-work and strokes of good-luck. It also offers a glimpse of an extraordinary man who comes from a small village and rises to the highest level of international stardom in the field of Ghazals, cutting across various barriers and boundaries.

Ali told agencies, “It feels great when a biography comes out. Even if I am not there, people will remember me through the book. It's a great feeling. There are lot of things in the book which have been revealed from my childhood days till now. I know future of ghazal is very bright. After a certain point, we will come back to ghazals. This is a temporary change of modern music.”

The 'Foreword' of the book has been penned by Ustad Zakir Hussain and the 'Introduction' is by Hariharan. The biography makes for some light and inspirational reading, showcasing events and episodes in the life of the maestro along with the experiences of a few musical people who touched his life.

A special audio CD comprising of eight ghazals, two sung by Ali and six by co-author Sadhana Jejurikar will be released along with the biography for free.
