German music networking site makes Indian debut

MUMBAI:, the worldwide music networking community recently entered India. Based out of Hamburg (Germany), is a one-of-its kind B2B networking platform developed specifically for the global music community. The internet platform aims to provide a common marketplace for artists, lyricists, composers to interact and promote themselves.

So, what promise does India hold for Music2Deal?

According to Asia Pacific MD Sudhir Shreedharan, India has talent in abundance.

"Indian artists have touched all forms of music – from traditional Carnatic and classical music to Rock and Jazz. Nevertheless, there remains a conspicuous dearth of infrastructure that can promote these artists. Internationally, Indian music continues to be represented by Bollywood alone. The monopoly might continue in the absence of a channel for Indian artists to promote themselves on an international level

Indian artists seldom receive recognition even in the Indian market, which has very niche segments for traditional and contemporary music. Another relatively unexplored but strong area is that of Indian folk music – notes and rhythms richly infused with Indian flavor which often go unnoticed, with exceptions like Punjabi pop music," he says

Over 50% of the members on are International artist managers and music labels."This gives a golden opportunity for Indian artists to gain international exposure," he points out

M2D, as popularly known is also seeking co-operation from the Cultural Ministry and the Government Of India to extend rich benefits to non-Bollywood musicians

Meanwhile, will also bring down International bands to India, exposing the Indian audience to fresh non bollywood music.

This week, launched their new website with new features that will enable artists to showcase their work in a better way.
