Gajendrra Singh takes music reality shows down south

MUMBAI; After giving television few of its most memorable musical shows including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Antakshari, Star Voice of India and several others, Gajendrra Singh and his production house Saibaba Telefilms Pvt Ltd, are now exploring the horizons beyond the Hindi television space. The production house will make musical reality shows for the regional markets including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

First in the league is the Kannada television industry where the production house has launched a grand, as yet untitled reality show on Udaya TV. Post this, a show for the Tamil television industry will be launched. Telugu and Malayalam shows will air in June this year 

The concept of the Kannada music reality show is similar to the recently culminated show on Star Plus, Music Ka Mahamuqabla. Though certain changes will be made in the format to suit the Kannada market which is vastly different from the Hindi speaking market that the production house has been making shows for.

The show will seek to search for and promote the best of musical talent in Karnataka has already rolled out its auditions in Shimoga on 17 April and will culminate with final auditions in Bengaluru on 23 April. A total of 12 singers will be chosen to participate in the show.

The show is touted to be the first reality television in Kannada which will pitch six established music directors and singers challenging each others musical skills with a team of young talent. The show which will go on air from 29 May will see six stalwarts heading six teams, each captained by a singer who has been a part of other reality shows and is well known by the audience. The mentors of the teams are Gurukiran, Nanditha, Chaitra, Hemant, Rajesh Ramnath and L.N Shastry.
