FTII appoints DJ Narain as director

MUMBAI:The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) appointed Dharmendra Jai Narain aka �DJ Narain' as the new director, replacing Pankaj Rag.

DJ Narain, a lead singer-cum-composer of pop-rock band 'The Aryans', has published five albums and played over 800 concerts.

Narain said, "Right now it's too early for me to comment on the institute's proposed up gradation. But whatever challenges we face, I'm sure we will be able to surmount them. We have to adapt to change, students and faculty need to be communicated to effectively and my efforts to achieve our objectives will be second to none....

Narain first tryst with FTII dates was in 1993, when he underwent a month-long course in film and television production as a part of his Indian Information Service (IIS) course. An alumnus of IIT, Kanpur, Narain was also been an officer on special duty with the song and drama division.
