Friends 91.9 FM gets audience to host new show

MUMBAI: The Kolkata radio station Friends 91.9 FM plans to give the people of Kolkata an opportunity to host their own show from the comfort of their homes.

The show, titled 'Bari Theke Bolchi', goes on air from 14 January and will be aired from 10 pm to 11 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The methodology is simple – call into a dedicated phone number, leave a 45 second message about yourself, and the station selects one person per day from those, and all he/she has to do is to host a one hour show sitting at home.

Says Friends' programming head Jaideep Banerjee,"For the first time on radio, a concept has been created keeping 'consumer empowerment' in mind. Bari Theke Bolchi empowers the listener to address lakhs of people, thereby not only making his 'voice' heard, but more importantly his point of view. It's taking listener interaction, which has so far been limited to interactions with the Radio Jockey and participation in contests, many notches higher".
