Fever FM RJs win cross-network Cricket tourney

* RJs from Radio City, BIG FM, Fever 104 and Radio One had come together to play cricket

MUMBAI: To gear up for the opening day of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, RJs of Radio City 91.1 FM, 92.7 BIG FM, Fever 104 FM and Radio One 94.3 FM participated in a cricket match with their listeners on Saturday at SRPF Ground, Goregaon. Sidhu and Urmin from Fever 104 FM won the nail-biting final and were awarded the title of City's Most Fashionable Cricket Team.

Cricket Day was organized across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata with 30 RJs participating in the cricket match. Three matches were played in every city.

In Mumbai, RJ Nitin and Ruchi from Big FM, RJs Salil and Priti from Radio City, RJ Sidhu and Urmin from Fever FM and RJ Jay and Gaya from Radio One contested. Every team had 12 players including two RJs in a 10-over match. Every RJ was the captain of the team and had 10 listeners to create his team from.

TV artiste Jai Bhanushali and former Miss India Earth and Bollywood actress Amruta Patki were chief guests.

Listeners had to log on to www.facebook.com/fashionatbigbazaar and upload their photos with a caption wearing the ICC merchandise to be in their favorite RJ's team.

Fashion@Big Bazaar announced and introduced ICC Day on facebook with RJ uploading their pictures and appealing the listeners to participate. Different photo albums were earmarked for each city. The fans had to simply vote, comment and urge their friends to like their uploaded picture. Eleven people for each team were short listed by the RJ's themselves on the basis of their facebook votes.

The ground was branded with Fashion@Big Bazaar merchandise which were also displayed & sold at the venue to add to the lively environment. Radio OB Links giving hourly match updates along with online Facebook integration witnessed huge followers. Non participating RJ's also canvassed for their colleagues competing in the tournament. Winners were gratified with gift vouchers courtesy Fashion@BigBazaar. Audience and fans at the venue tweeted about the matches on Fashion@BB twitter handle, out of which the most interesting tweets got ICC merchandise free at the match.

Talking about this activity, Ammar Millwala from Percept Media said, We wanted to engage with the customers and hence we thought of an activity were we could build a platform to communicate with fans & customers. We have used radio & internet as a platform to reach out to Fashion@Big Bazaar TG as these mediums connect with young and fashionable cricket crazy fans....
