EMI to expand digital division

MUMBAI: The dark days seem to be behind global music major EMI.

The company has said it is expanding its digital division as part of its strategy to grow non-physical income.

The record label, which last month said its digital sales had jumped 15 per cent year on year to now account for 35 per cent of its annual income, is adding to its team to increase online marketing activity.

Among those EMI is looking to recruit are digital media managers, digital creative developers, CRM managers and search marketing managers

Dan Duncombe, recently promoted to VP of digital marketing at EMI Music UK, said he was keen to build on a series of innovative digital marketing projects for artists such as Coldplay, Lily Allen and Kylie.

We're looking to build on those foundations and our existing strengths to broaden the skills we have,... he said. We want to recruit the best digital marketing people to be a part of transforming EMI into a consumer-led, digitally focused business....

EMI is keen to develop more promotional and commercial online campaigns, make more effective use of its databases of fans and push more strongly into social media.
