MUMBAI: Dutch trance producer Tiesto has topped Forbes first annual list of the highest paid DJ with a total earnings of $22 million in the past year, averaging a nightly gross of $250,000.
Forbes has compiled a list of the top ten highest paid stars of electronic dance music with three-time Grammy winner Skrillex attaining the second spot with $15 million in the last year. Swedish House Mafia bagged the third position with $14 million while David Guetta came in at the fourth spot with a total of $13.5 million. Steve Aoki ranked fifth with $12million.
Rounding off the top 10 were Deadmau5 at sixth spot, DJ Pauly D at seventh, Kaskade at eight spot, Afrojack at ninth spot and Avicii at tenth position.
Forbes estimates the earnings from live shows, recorded music sales, endorsements and merchandise sales.
