MUMBAI: The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium has announced the launch of their new online information web page for India. Set to launch later this week, this is the first initiative of the new DRM chapter for India established a year ago in New Delhi. The informative page is for all stakeholders and members of the public who aim to make DRM achieve success in the country. DRM chairperson Ruxandra Obreja said, “We welcome the launch of the new ‘Noticeboard’. We want all those interested to have an open space to share information, ask questions and get real news about DRM developments and receivers primarily in India.” Describing the new initiative, former AIR senior executive Yogendra Pal said, “The idea is coming up at an opportune time as India is preparing for the introduction of DRM.” The DRM India chapter is led by Pal and brings together AIR, commercial broadcasters, chipset and receiver manufacturers, OEMs and other expertise from India and abroad. Digital Radio Mondiale is a universal, openly standardized digital broadcasting system for all broadcasting frequencies below and above 30 MHz, including LW, MW, SW, band I, II (FM band) and band III. It provides digital sound quality and the ease-of-use that comes from digital radio, combined with features like Surround Sound, Journaline text information, Slideshow, EPG and data services.
