Dhingana brings geofencing for music labels

MUMBAI: In an attempt to build itself stronger, music streaming service Dhingana has enhanced its global streaming platform with geofencing capabilities which will enable Dhingana to distribute content on a country-specific basis and thereby partner with music labels who have country wise limitations to distribute their content.

From a consumer perspective, the geofencing capabilities will allow Dhingana to provision regionally relevant content. Consumers can avail the content that are relevant to them which will allow it to attract  region-specific audiences by getting tailored music streaming. Meanwhile, this move will also be a way to get the music labels pleased as their  Intellectual Property Rights  will be safeguarded.

Dhingana  co-founder and CTO Snehal Shinde said, “Geofencing is a Dhingana feature that allows us to restrict media content to certain geographic regions based on the licensing terms. Until now, Dhingana already supported regional geofencing, which allowed us to restrict content to major geographic regions such as India, SAARC, Europe etc. We are now expanding our platform to have more refined control over the content distribution, which will enable our platform for rapid international expansion.”

Dhingana is rolling out a series of such initiatives to strengthen its goodwill among the audience and the label companies. Rohit Bhatia’s appointment as the chief executive officer was also its strategy to expand the team and divide their responsibility and enhance Dhingana in terms of  technology, catalogue, revenue and consumers base.

"Another initiative we've undertaken is to further enhance our cloud based music platform and improve its speed 10x compared to what it is today. Users across the globe using our web and mobile products will see a considerable improvement in the product responsiveness and speed. These performance enhancements will be rolled out gradually in the next three weeks,” he added.

Dhingana is available on the Web, mobile Web and as an app for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android, Windows and Nokia devices.
