Delhi Youth wins karaoke contest in NCR

NEW DELHI: Sameer Panwar of Delhi has  won the first-ever SanDisk Singathon... – a Karaoke contest – that commenced in the National Capital Region of Delhi - Gurgaon, Noida and Delhi – on 18 October.

TV actor Mona Singh was present at the grand finale which featured 12 finalists, selected from all the participating contestants, at the Ansal Plaza in Delhi. She completely floored both the participants and the huge crowd that assembled to watch the evening unfold, as she sportingly sang and danced along as she emceed for the evening. The lucky 24-year old grand finale winner was awarded a trip for two to Dubai with all the other final participating contestants were given attractive prizes from SanDisk.

SanDisk Corporation which specialises in flash memory products held the contest till 30 October across popular malls, college campuses and commercial hotspots in Delhi. Through this contest, SanDisk reached out to music enthusiasts of all age-groups and create awareness about SanDisk's comprehensive product portfolio including memory cards ranging from for mobile phones/cameras/camcorders and mp3 players.

For the first  time, Indian consumers experienced the power of high capacity memory cards that will enable them to explore their memory hungry digital gadgets (mobile phones, digital cameras) to its fullest potential.

I am delighted to see the enthusiasm from thousands of participants during this time. This Karaoke contest gives us a great platform to reach out to the tech-savvy consumers who want to do more with their digital devices – store more music, listen to more songs and/or even save more videos, ringtones and games amongst others. While the Indian consumer, especially the youth segment is increasingly demanding more out of their digital gadgets, surprisingly very few realize that with the simple addition of a large capacity storage card, they can unleash the potential of their devices to a great extent....

The activity was extended to popular college campuses and commercial hotspots in South Delhi. At each SanDisk booth, contestants could select from a playlist comprising of popular songs from different genres of music including Pop, Rock, Classics, Bollywood, Hip-Hop etc., and record their rendition of the song on a mobile device with the SanDisk 8GB MicroSDHC/M2 memory card. The action was also captured in parallel on a digital camera / camcorder with the SanDisk 8 GB memory card. Winners were selected at regular intervals through the day at each venue and get to win a range of exciting prizes from SanDisk and 12 shortlisted.
