Dam999 bags two honours at Global Music Awards

MUMBAI: Controversial movie ‘Dam999’ has bagged two honours at the Global Music Awards held in California.

Indian film ‘Dam999’ won the Award of Excellence for its soundtrack and the Award of Merit for original score.

Directed by Kerala-based naval architect Sohan Roy, the soundtrack has been penned by Roy and composed by Ouseppachan. The movie comprises of nine multilingual tracks of which five are in English and two in Hindi and Malayalam each. The songs are rendered by several National award winning singers including Hariharan, Shreya Ghoshal, KS Chithra, P Jayachandran and more.

‘Dam999’ is a 3D-movie with a social cause to make the masses aware of an impending danger of a dam collapse, if not attended on time. The movie featured Indian actors Rajit Kapur, Vimala Raman, Vinai Rai and Ashish Vidhyarthi. The film was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in India.

'Dam999' was earlier shortlisted for the 2011 Oscar race in three categories, but missed its place in the final nomination list.
