Creative agencies battle out at Radio One Karaoke Championship

MUMBAI: Bringing the advertising industry together, Radio One commenced its karaoke championship with eight teams battling out for the crown.

Out of the eight teams registered for the first round of the three round battle, two winners and runner ups each have qualified for the final round to he held on 20 December. The next round of the championship will take place on 6 December at The Media Café (TMC) in Gurgaon, and registrations for the same have commenced. Winners of the next round stand a chance to get special tickets to the Guns N Roses concert on 12 December in Delhi.

The winners of this week are Male- Ajinkya Ketkar from Membrane Inc and Female- Moumita from Lowe Lintas. Male- Joby John from Membrane Inc and Female- Mansi Bansal from Madison Communication Pvt Ltd were declared runner ups.

Songs ranging from international classics to current favourites were belted out by the contestants. They were also joined in by people from the network and others visiting the venue.

Radio One Delhi station director Rajesh Ranjan said, “We are thrilled with the first level of participation and would really like that agencies come to TMC to cheer for their contestants and motivate them to win the championship.”

The championship was judged by a panel comprising of Deputy Spokesperson of the US embassy in Delhi S Lee McManis, Radio One morning host Chris and The Media Café co-founder and owner Raghav Subramanian.

McManis said, “The Radio One Karaoke Challenge was an excellent event.  I was given the opportunity to meet some real rock n roll fans, many of whom were talented singers as well. The event was a great connection between Radio One and the Embassy, and hopefully this cooperation can expand into more joint events and radio programs.”
