ContraBass Records signs first Indian electronic music duo 'Lost Stories'

MUMBAI: ContraBass Records has signed Indian electronic duo ‘Lost Stories’ comprising of Prayag Mehta and Rishab Joshi.

The duo becomes the first Indian electronic music act to sign to Universal Music India’s electronic music sub-label ContraBass Records.

Lost Stories said, “ContraBass is a fantastic initiative by Universal Music and we’re very happy and honoured to be a part of it. With the rising popularity of EDM, ContraBass is surely going play a vital role in promoting the scene and be home to many upcoming Electronic Music Artistes.”

Lost Stories found success when their single 'False Promises’ got picked up by Tiesto’s Black Hole Recordings and thereafter had multiple productions and remixes signed with the label as well as Armin Van Buuren‘s Armada Records amongst others. They have produced official remixes for Grammy Nominees such as BT, Nadia Ali and Andy Moor and have singles featured on various mix compilations such as Richard Durand's In Search of Sunrise, Paul Okaenfold's Dj Box, BT's These Re-imagined machines, Cosmic Gate's ‘back2back 4’.  They have also won the VH1 My Favorite DJ award for the Best Trance Djs 2011 – India.

Universal Music India SAARC managing director Devraj Sanyal said, “I saw these boys when I was running Sunburn & was instantly impressed by their different sound which almost was not from here. I am proud that they will now be published by our Electronica label – Contrabass under UMGI, which is dedicated to publish this genre of music full-time from here in India & abroad. I have no doubt that their debut album will create a landmark in the world which I now define as ‘The future Sound of the New India’.”

ContraBass Records label manager Krishna Kaul said, “Lost Stories are undoubtedly one of the most talented electronic music acts in India at the moment, and it makes perfect sense for them to be ContraBass Records’ first signing as their music is fiercely international and matches up to global EDM artistes. They are a perfect match for our vision of taking Indian electronic music talent beyond our borders.”

Lost Stories is due to release their first full length studio album on ContraBass Records in July 2012.
