Chennai's biggest Carnatic music fest airs on Vijaya TV from 3 Jan

BANGALORE: Star's Tamil offering Vijay TV  will air TVH - Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru music festival over two weeks, starting from January 3, 2011, Monday to Friday at 7 am with a repeat telecast at 5 pm 

In its sixth consecutive year, Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru, Chennai's biggest Carnatic music festival,  is an annual affair heralding the music season in Chennai. Vijay TV says that  the event, which was held at Kamarajar Arangam between December 18 and December 24, saw over 45 eminent personalities from the Carnatic music world performing on stage, with a total audience of around 75,000 people   Also, for the first time ever, popular singers from the Film Industry also participated in the event.

Luminaries like T N Seshagopalan, P S  Narayanaswamy, Santhana Gopalan, T V Sankaranarayanan, O S Arun, Udayalur Kalyanaraman, Sudha Raghunathan, Nithyashree Mahadevan, Shoba Chandrasekar, Salem Jayashree, Mahathi, Harini, Mahanidhi Shobana, Priya Sisters, S Sowmya, Sikkil Gurucharan, Ram Parusaram, Anuradha  Ram, Rajesh Vaidhya, Ganesh Kumaresh and Meenakshi Raghavan, amongst many others, were a part of the Carnatic music fest.

Popular film singers such as the legendary S P Balasubramaniyam, P Unnikrishnan and Harini  also participated in the event  Musicians of international and national repute like   Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt also performed.
