Chennai to pay tribute to Michael Jackson

MUMBAI: On the occasion of Michael Jackson's 50th birth anniversary, a charity concert will be held on 29 August  at the Wesley School Grounds, Royapettah in Chennai. All proceeds of this grand event titled 'Michael Jackson tribute concert – Heal the World' will be donated to the Autism Society of India in aid of Autism Awareness.

The highlight of the show is that it will be simultaneously tele-linked with Shah Rukh Khan's MJ tribute show in Mumbai and Usha Uthup's MJ tribute show in Kochi in order to create a National campaign towards a worthy cause. The announcement of the concert was made by music composer Pravin Mani - the Musical Director and Producer of the MJ tribute concert, as an initiative to promote English Music by Indian artists globally. Mani says, This will be the biggest western music concert that India would have ever witnessed.... Mani works with AR Rahman and other prominent music directors in India and overseas as an arranger/programmer.

This show will feature a multitude of prominent playback singers such as Shanker/Ehsaan/Loy/& Sons, Srinivas, Benny Dayal, Kartik, Blaaze, Hariharan, Sanjeev Thomas, Kavitha Belagi featuring the KM Conservatory of Music Faculty, Andrea Jerimiah Trio, Selvaganesh and many others. The three hour long concert with 20,000 watts of sound, over 300 lights/ laser productions, multiple AV screens and pyrotechnics is expected to draw close to 15,000 people.
