Book on Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page to hit shelves

MUMBAI: Giving rock fans a greater understanding of Led Zeppelin's enigmatic guitarist Jimmy Page, a book ‘Light & Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page' will be published on 23 October.

Compiled by longtime Guitar World editorial director Brad Tolinski, the book material has been sourced from more than 50 hours' worth of interviews which he conducted with Page over the last 20 years. The rock legend has historically shied away from press for long years but the book promises to shed  a light on the reticent leader, mastermind, guitarist and producer of Led Zeppelin.

Through this book, the guitarist who has been surrounded by a great deal of mystery and mystique will discuss variety of aspects of his career, from his years as a sought-after session musician, through his Zeppelin heyday and beyond, to his various endeavors following the band's 1980 breakup. The book will also highlight guitarist collaborative work with artists like The Who, The Kinks, and Eric Clapton, to his wild years in Led Zeppelin, and post-Zep projects.

"While there is no shortage of written material out there on Led Zeppelin's legacy, no member has written their own memoir and rarely have they cooperated with the press or a biographer - certainly never Page. For the most part, their exploits are merely the stuff of legend. On the rare occasions that Page has opened his doors to journalists, he has done so with caution," the report said.

Speaking about the book, ex-Guns N' Roses, guitarist, Slash said, "This is the most comprehensive and compelling collection of interviews, insights and historical anecdotes of one of rock and roll's premier guitarists, songwriters and producers ever compiled. A fascinating must-have for Jimmy Page fans like myself."
