Bono receives France's highest award

MUMBAI: U2 frontman Bono has been bestowed with Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters by French culture minister Aurelie Filippetti in Paris.

Bono, 53 said France's highest cultural honour for his contribution to music and commitment to humanitarian causes belonged to his band.

"I've got the biggest mouth and the loudest voice but the music we make comes from each other," he said.

He has already been awarded France's Legion of Honour in 2003 and an honorary knighthood from the Queen in 2007 and has also been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his fight against poverty in Africa and against HIV/AIDS and charity work.

The band famous for albums like ‘The Joshua Tree’, ‘Achtung Baby, ‘Zooropa’ and ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’ celebrated the completion of their yet-to-be-titled 13th album slated for release at the latter half of  2013.
