Bill Evans and Ranjit Barot to perform at NCPA Jazz concert

MUMBAI: After hosting successful Jazz concerts with world renowned artistes, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) will once again bring prominent jazz artistes together on one platform through a music concert ‘Jazz@ NCPA’. The concert showcasing alternate jazz will be held on 8 June at Tata Theatre.

For the very first time renowned artistes Bill Evans (saxophone), Ranjit Barot (drums) Etienne Mbappe (bass) and Marc Guillermont (guitar) will perform together. The concert will bring together the musical diversity and cultural influence through an improvised music.

Speaking about the event NCPA consultant and a member of the NCPA Jazz Committee Romit Chaterji said, “The NCPA plans to curate and organize frequent Jazz performance all year round, which would finally culminate in an annual Jazz festival at the end of the year. The NCPA’s high quality performances have grown in stature over time and have greatly contributed in instilling a love for jazz amongst the city’s music aficionados.”

The event is presented in association with Blue Frog and is supported by the Tata Group.

Last year, NCPA included performances of renowned saxophonist Joshua Redman and vocalist Diane Witherspoon, in its international Jazz festival which was held at the NCPA in October 2011.
