Big Music releases Sikandar music

MUMBAI: Big Music has launched the soundtrack of Sikandar'; a co-production between BIG Pictures and filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's production house - CineRaas Ltd. Set in the picturese valley of Kashmir, with childhood, innocence and terrorism as backdrop, the film is a remarkable journey of the young Sikandar. This gripping story also deals with the exploitation and manipulation of innocent people in a place which has witnessed decades of violence and insurgency.

The music of the film has been scored by Sandesh Shandilya, Justin-Uday & Shankar Ehsaan Loy where the lyrics have been penned by Prasoon Joshi, Neelesh Misra and Kumaar.

BIG Music has planned a slew of activities for marketing of the film music, including special tie-ups with TV and radio partners. A special video on the song Dhoop Ke Sikke' has been shot for the promotion of the music. The video features Shankar Ehsaan Loy performing to a live crowd, with visuals from the film adding to the social message that the video conveys about children and the effects of terrorism on innocent lives.

Piyush Jha has written and directed this suspense thriller. The film stars Parzan Dastur (child actor in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), Ayesha Kapoor (child artist from Black), R Madhavan, Sanjay Suri and Arunoday Singh.

According to a release, Prasoon Joshi was so moved by the film and the theme, that he wrote â€?Dhoop Ke Sikke', a special song on the innocence of childhood and its surroundings. Shankar Ehsaan & Loy have brought the joyful and sensitive childhood innocence to the song  Neelesh Misra dedicates 'Gulon Mein' to Faiz Ahmed Faiz, the famous Urdu poet. Sung by Mohit Chauhan and KK, there are two versions of the song. Justin-Uday set the words on fire with some brilliant guitar work. Yash Narvekar & Hrishikesh Kamerkar bring in the spiritual factor with 'Allah Hoo'. Questioning Sikandar's decisions and choices, the lyrics of the song are set on a slow, rhythmic pattern by Justin-Uday. With the story based in Kashmir, the director has added the fresh, new voice of Mehrajuddin, a young boy from Aru – J&K, to sing 'Arzoo'; which is a traditional 'Naat', sung by Muslims in Kashmir  Shilpa Rao comes in for the female single 'Manzaraat' - a shot, peppy number recounting the circumstances of the protagonist. Hrishikesh Kamerkar & Hamsika bring in the optimism and the arrogance of youth with 'Chaal Apni'.

Says Big Music CEO Kulmeet Makkar, "Sikandar's soundtrack is a rare one. We have the best of lyricists and composers collaborating for making some spectacular music. The Dhoop Ke Sikke' track with Shankar and Prasoon stands out. Mohit Chauhan and KK have done some incredible singing for Gulon Mein'."
