Big FM sweeps NYF radio awards with five honours

MUMBAI: Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd radio arm Big FM bagged maximum honours from India at the New York Festivals 2012 Radio Program & Promotion Awards. The network won one gold, silver, bronze metal along with two finalist certificates.

Big FM won gold in ‘Best Special Event’ category for Rosy Massage Parlour, silver in ‘Station Id’ for Morning Station Id and a bronze metal in 'Public Service Announcement Promotion' category for Rosy Massage Parlour. The station also bagged two finalist certificates in ‘Best Sound’ for 92.7 Big FM Early Morning Jingle and 'Public Service Announcement Promotion' category for Teena.

Big FM business head Rabe T Iyer said, “We are proud of the team that has brought home the maximum awards at the very prestigious NYF, being adjudged from amongst some of the world’s best radio programs. Creativity and innovation in radio has evolved, and at BIG FM, we encourage teams to go beyond the conventional route. The team has delivered some excellent results and it is the awards and recognitions which further encourage them to do better. We are confident of being able to continue delivering novel and unique concepts that break the clutter and engage audiences, while helping marketers to communicate their message effectively.”

Following up with three wins was Red FM who pocketed gold in ‘Community Service’ category for Ondhu Chance (Bangalore) and two finalist certificates in ‘Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program’ for Silly Fellow (Suryan FM- Hyderabad) and ‘Best Comedy/Humor Personality: Local Market’ category for RJ Raunak (Delhi).

Other winners included Radio Mango, with two finalist certificates in ‘Best Radio Personality: Local Market’ for RJ Raghu and ‘Best Sound category’ for Mimicry Jingle. HT Media Ltd (Fever FM), Club FM and My FM took home one award each, leading upto a total of 13 winners from India.

This year’s grand jury selected 196 entries representing 22 countries as finalists. Fever 104 FM group programming head Gaurav Sharma was one of the judges invited from India to be on the jury of the Radio programming and promotions award.

New York Festivals International Radio Program & Promotions Awards 2012 awarded 37 gold, 44 silver and 45 bronze trophies along with 70 final certificates. The awards were held on 18 June at Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.
