Big FM to mark Navratri the `big` way

MUMBAI: Big FM`s Mumbai`s station is offering `9 BIG Nights` to celebrate the Navratri festival. The FM Station has on-air plans with nine different themes for `9 BIG Nights` clubbed with content on fashion, dance styles, dating game during the festival, on-air Dandiya singer, food and specialties and anecdotes on Dussera.

The Vadodara station`s idea of Navratri celebration is also quite similar. The Mumbai station had `Dandiya Queen` Phalguni Pathak visiting the studio for interactions with the listeners` and talking about some of her most memorable and favourite songs.

On air-contests will be played every hour everyday throughout Navratri and passes for the most happening Navratri celebrations given away to the winners. The website www.big927fm.com will feature a section where listeners can upload their group photographs in the traditional attires to participate in the Coolest Garba Group Competition. BIG FM RJs will select the winner and send the winning Group a BIG Print out of the photographs.

Big`s Surat station has tied up with Shreeji Enterprise, Surat`s biggest garba group and will be airing all the excitement at the Indoor Stadium from 9 pm to 1 am throughout Navratri.

The station will also give out prizes to the Best Group Garba, Best Dressed Girl/Boy, Best Performance by a couple, Best Performance by Senior Citizen, Best Performance by a Child and Most Energetic Perfomer, tattoo booths at the venue.

In Kolkata, the station will bring live the Durga Puja festivities from Bengal Club by conducting on-ground competitions Shonkho Dhoni (Conch Shell Blowing), Dhunuchi Naach, Noibiddo Shajano (Arranging offerings to Maa Durga) and Antakshari competition. On Dussehra, the Surat station shall gift a two-wheeler to the listener who sends in maximum number of SMSes all throughout 10 days. Big`s Rajkot station is set to add colours to the Navratri celebration through fun-filled on-air programming and on-ground activities. The Kathiawad region, to which Rajkot belongs, is known as the motherland of garba and Gujarati folk music. The morning show BIG Chai on Rajkot`s BIG 92.7 FM will capture this very essence of the region and share all about the history of Kathiawad and the rich folk culture of the region.

RJs on BIG Chai throughout the nine days will talk about the nine avatars of Goddess Amba. Back-to-back garba music will have Gayatri Mahima, Ambe Mahima , Stuti and Navchandi Path being played early morning and late in the night for the listeners.

On ground, BIG Rajkot has already tied up with Pioneer which is the biggest garba organizer in Rajkot. Special prizes shall be given away to the winners of Best Traditional Garbi competition, Best Raas competition, Aarti Competition, Best Traditional Dress Competition, Best Garba Singer Competition.
