Big FM back with 'Yaadon ka Idiot Box' season 2

MUMBAI: After touching the hearts of audiences with its innovative story-telling format, ‘Yaadon ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Mishra’ is back with the second edition set to launch on 2 July.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com Mishra said, “The success of its first season encouraged us and gave us a morale boost to come up with its second edition. We received 5.5mn views on the 50-55 stories we uploaded on social networking sites earlier. This season will include a lot more listener integration. We will talk to listeners as well apart from featuring stories and we aim to reach out to more number of people in different cities.”

Hosted by renowned lyricist Mishra, the night show that aims to revive the story-telling skill in the country has been extended to a two-hour slot from 9-11pm with special repeats on Sunday. A special team known ‘Monday Mandli’ comprising of Mishra and 15 other writers will pen the stories to be narrated by Mishra accompanied by retro music.

The team also aims to increase listener integration by extending its reach beyond 35 cities as compared to last year.

Talking about the challenges and new elements in this season Mishra revealed, “This is the first project of my company Content Project Pvt Ltd. The main challenge here is to inculcate the new format into the episodes. I also want to travel and do live story-telling so our team is working on that. But I am sure that the production and quality of the stories will be better than the previous edition.”

With increasing competition in the market, many radio players are creating innovative content and programming to cater to a larger range of audiences. With the second edition of the show set to launch soon, a lot of listener expectations were involved in the making of the program. “Earlier no one had done the kind of radio apart from Aakashwani. People thought that only music works on radio. But if now people have started airing such content it’s a compliment for us,” he stated.
