The title �4' signifies the artist's fourth solo album and the day of her birth.

Beyonc?© launched a video of the lead single â€?Run the World (Girls)' from the album on American Idol followed by an online debut at www.beyonceonline.com. The Video is produced by Switch with additional production by Beyonc?© and Shea Taylor  The single is written by Terius Nash (The Dream) and Beyonc?©.

The video directed by Francis Lawrence was filmed in Los Angeles and The Mojave Desert with a cast of over 200 dancers.
