BBC Hindi radio launches new morning show

MUMBAI:  BBC Hindi radio has unveiled a new offering titled ‘Namaskar Bharat’, giving listeners a brief on the latest news with reports and analysis on national, regional and global issues.

Commencing from 27 March, the daily morning news show will be broadcast live for 30-minutes at 06.30 IST and repeat at 08.00 IST.

‘Namaskar Bharat’ will place Indian stories in the wider context and bring news from Asia and the rest of the world.  It will feature profiles of, and conversations with, the representatives of Indian diaspora and stories of India’s professionals and talent.  While press reviews will bring headline stories from media across Asia, ‘Namaskar Bharat’ will also capture the conversations dominating social media, covering facebook and twitter users.

BBC Hindi editor Amit Baruah said, “Just like the rest of the BBC Hindi output, the new morning programme fits into the ‘global India’ theme. We have been aware of our audiences’ demand for a morning news programme that would set the day’s news agenda.  This modern, lively news programme will further enhance our radio offer and increase choice for our audiences.”

The BBC Hindi morning and evening radio news programmes are available on shortwave, online and via mobile phones.
