Bacardi NH7 Weekender announces entire line up, brings major international acts

MUMBAI: NH7 Weekender has finally announced more than half its line-up. The festival will see major acts like The Vaccines and Mutemath headlining at two cities each. English post punk band, The Vaccines will be headlining the Pune and Delhi editions, while Mutemath will be headlining the Bangalore and Kolkata editions of the Weekender.

Festival organisers have played the entire announcement of the line-up very strategically. One by one, artistes/bands introduced each other on social media platforms, viz, Twitter and Facebook with the hash tag lineup2014.

The weekender has outdone itself this year in terms of line up. Even though Kolkata's line up lacks a number of established acts, The Pune edition compensates with a stellar line up of more than 40 bands. Huge acts from England like alternative rock band- Dinosaur Pile-up, and solo folk act- Luke Sital Singh, will be seen performing on the weekender stage at both Pune and Delhi.

NH7 has always had a soft spot for Australian acts, which is visible this year as well. Acts from down under include rock band- Cloud Control, surf/garage/soul band- Money for Rope and indie rock/pop musician Sarah Blasko. Australian electronic act Peking Duk is also part of the line-up for the Weekender festival.

This year festival goers will also experience live sets from different American bands that include indie pop bands Goldspot and Motopony. One of the most popular and famed metal American bands- Fear Factory will be playing at Pune and Delhi. An African blues band called Songhoy Blues will also stop at Pune, later going to Delhi to perform at the festival while on tour. The festival will also see French soul/funk n roll band- The Inspector Cluzo perform at the Eristoff stage in Bangalore.

One of the most popular acts of the entire festival for all EDM lovers is Jon Hopkins, the English producer and musician, known for creating melodic electronica tunes with groovy dance sets. NH7 will bring another British electronic/dubstep group- Foreign Beggars who are known to be massive crowd pleasers.

The festival will also see a number of popular Indian music acts like Soulmate, Them Clones, Sky Rabbit, Superfuzz, Maati Baani, Peepal Tree, Big City Harmonics and many more that have been making it big in the Indian independent music scene lately. Bollywood musician/composer Amit Trivedi, who has gained popularity after his gig with Coke Studio, will also make his debut performance at the festival. Another new name added to the list is one of India’s most popular comedy collectives- All India Bakchod.

This year’s edition will see a lot of popular local acts in their respective cities and other famous artistes like Monica Dogra, Raghu Dixit, Vishal Dadlani, Ankur Tewari, The Supersonics, Delhi Sultanate & Begum X and others. Though, the metal genre has seen a decline with only ten bands in total for all the cities this time, Skyharbor will be coming to NH7 for the second time, playing tracks from their upcoming album ’Guiding Lights’ in Pune and Delhi. Metal-heads will also see bands like Providence, Pangea, Undying Inc, Scribe and Bhayanak Maut at different cities.

In total, there are more than 90 bands set to perform throughout the four Weekenders. The bands vary across different genres of music. They will be playing on six different stages - Bacardi Black Rock Arena, The Dewarists, Eristoff Wolves Den, Pepsi Dub Station, The Other Stage and Fully Fantastic Stage. The Weekender has lived up to its promise of an epic line-up but, organisers have revealed that there will be only a limited number of passes available this time. Tickets go on sale from 22 August on the NH7.in/weekender website.
