At least USD500K invested for Sound Awake EDM: DNA Entertainment

MUMBAI: DNA Entertainment will invest at least half a million US Dollars for what is touted to be India’s biggest Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Festival- Sound Wake. The festival which will be hosted on 4 August in Banglaore, will have a lineup of some of the biggest DJs in the world including Taboo, Dirty Vegas, Shapeshifters, Yves Larock and Darude along with top Indian DJs across four stages.

“An event of this magnitude requires an investment of at least half a million dollars. And we are expecting 5000 plus people at Sound Awake. The festival will be a testimonial to its very name, where multiple Electronic Artists will showcase their music & talent at the various stages at the festival. It will allow fans to experience all the genres within Electronic music- the only festival that will do that in India,” DNA Entertainment MD, T Venkat Vardhan told Radioandmusic.com.

“In keeping with the music trends that are being followed by fans across the country and new genres coming to the fore for the live experience, it was only prudent for us to launch an Electronic Dance Music festival to encapsulate all these offerings. Our efficient partnerships with Pepsi, Heineken, Kingfisher, (labels) Ministry of Sound and HedKandi should suffice,” Vardhan said.

A coup DNA pulled off for the event is roping bigger names in EDM for Sound Awake.

“When you start something with an intention of building it for the long term it is always a challenge to get the right mix of talent. Due to our networks’ position in the live entertainment industry we were able to overcome the hurdles and make the right partnerships with the Ministry of Sound & HedKandi.

The audience will be treated to a visual spectacle at the festival. They will get to experience a spectacular LED roof at the DNA Live stage. It is the first of its kind in India,” Vardhan said.

The main two-day Sound Awake festival will be preceded by buildup shows across Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Hyderabad.

The main event itself will offer revelers other entertainment such as gaming zone, flea market and food courts. Declining to reveal the company’s other projects in the pipeline, Vardhan said, “For now, the focus of DNA Entertainment is on Sound Awake, Redefining EDM”.
