Asha Bhosle back with grandson's Sapne Suhane

MUMBAI: Unlike last year when Asha Bhosle released her own solo album â€?Precious Platinum' (which quite unexpectedly made it to the top 40 list of Amazon's world music chart),  this year around it's time for the legendary singer to feature in an contemporary album composed by her grandson Chin2 (son of her eldest son Hemant) and member of one of India's foremost boy bands - â€?A Band of Boys'.

Even as she completes 75 years on Tuesday, Asha Bhosle released the first solo album of grandson Chin2 titled Sapne Suhane' in Mumbai on 7 September. Released under Times Music, the album features Asha Bhosle singing a rock n roll track Pyaar Khushnaseeb'.

Dressed in a sparkling blue saree at the music launch at a suburban lounge late on Monday evening, Asha was as spontaneous as ever, I had told Chin2 that I'll only sing for his album if he composes something that I have never sung – he was petrified,... she joked.

As for Chin2 Bhosle, after A Band of Boys slipped into oblivion, he went back to working for radio stations and MNCs. Moreover, in spite of the strong music undercurrent in the family, his first solo album comes after 11 years –  long overdue, he believes. I am not worried of this album being a hit or a flop – the only thing I care is I had a great time making this album,... said Chin2. In addition, present at the launch to support Chin2 were ABOB members Karan Oberoi, Sherrin Varghese and Siddharth Haldipur.

Asha Bhosle also celebrated her birthday amidst the media frenzy, by cutting birthday cake after the music launch– quite enthusiastically.

Will it ride on Precious Platinum wave?

After making it to the top 40 in the world music list on Amazon.com, and most recently finding her way to the World Record Books for singing close to 13,000 songs, Asha Bhosle is a name to reckon with. The versatile singer also plans to release a Bengali album after a gap of 15 years since her first.

Suhane Sapne releases when the versatile singer is once again in the spotlight. One wonders if this will help the album in any way, It will definitely ride on that wave, but more importantly, the product is good,... believes Times Music COO Adarsh Gupta.
