Artist Aloud honours Independent artistes

MUMBAI: A digital platform, Artist Aloud which showcases talent of budding independent musicians and artistes, has recently announced the winners of the third annual Artists Aloud Awards that honours independent talents in different categories.

The leading digital space for artistes- Artist Aloud had selected the winner after 8 weeks of voting. The artistes have been awarded across categories like best male, best female, best group, best song and best genre. “We wanted to make this edition of awards special for the artistes, as the artistes demanded for a live awards function along with live performance rather than the digitally announcements. So we celebrated with the artistes this time,” told Artist Aloud associate VP Soumini Sridhara Paul to Radioandmusic.com.

She further added, “The live streaming of the awards received good response from the audiences and was a good experience altogether.” The ceremony was live streamed for the web audience and it saw some great unplugged performances by the artistes.

Eka was awarded in the best group category; and best genre was for fusion by Rock Veda. Eka said, “This award is dedicated to all the artists out there and especially independent artists as it requires ample amount of courage and gumption to follow this less chosen path. Kudos to Artist Aloud to believe in us and this kind of music. This is our second win in a row and we are thankful to all who voted for us.”

Rock Veda said, “We at Rock Veda were, are and always be sure that its music first and it’s your music that takes you to places. Choosing progressive fusion as a genre was a tough yet thoughtful decision as masses are yet to get familiar with this unique yet most creative and innovative genre. Having won the award in best genre just gives us immense encouragement and makes us strongly believe that yes this genre will carve its own niche in independent music.”

The winner in best song category is Kuhoo Gupta’s Tere Bin Jiya Lage Na. The best male and female title was awarded to Gandhaar Sangoram and Rashmi Agarwal.

The final winners were based on the total number of votes across Web, WAP and SMS. Additionally, the artists were awarded their trophy by five lucky audience members, who played a significant role in the award’s journey.
