AR Rahman debuts on TV with MTV Unplugged season 2

MUMBAI: After enthralling national and international audiences with his compositions, AR Rahman is all set to take over television with his acoustic score. The Grammy award singer has been roped-in for the second season of MTV Unplugged which is scheduled to go-on air in November.

The makers have enrolled renowned artistes like Shafqat Amanat Ali, Lucky Ali, Kailasa, Ash king, Agnee, Indus Creed and more to perform the acoustic versions of their popular numbers. The show will once again witness composer-drummer Ranjit Barot bringing forth the core bands for the various artistes. Schedule to go on-air in November; the show is also planning to include Pakistan’s sensation Atif Aslam in its celebrated list of artistes.

Earlier, MTV Unplugged had introduced bevy of Bollywood and indie artistes like Rabbi, Indian Ocean, Mohit Chauhan, Shilpa Rao, Javed Ali, Rabbi Shergill and Rekha Bhardwaj. The first edition recently also swept a silver title for Best Media innovation – Radio category at 2012 EMVIES awards.
