Apple to revamp iTunes music service

MUMBAI: In what is termed to be as a major overhaul since its launch in 2003, the iTunes service by Apple is all set to be revamped with closer integration and new features. The new version will be unveiled later this year.

Amongst the biggest changes to iTunes will be closer integration with iCloud and improved discoverability of available content in Apple’s digital store.

After Apple launched iCloud last year, it’s been working more closely on its integrations into many of its services. A more integrated iCloud with iTunes will allow users to access and manage their media content more seamlessly. The iTunes overhaul comes with the purpose of helping improve the way users manage and access the content owned by them.

According to reports, Apple is also working with major record labels for the rights to let users share songs and listen to tracks they receive from friends for free. Apple is asking music labels for more band pictures and videos in order to add more multimedia features to the revamped version of the iTunes service.

Apple iTunes has become increasingly popular since its initial market debut. However, the service has seen rising competition from other media streaming platforms including Spotify amongst others.
