Anu Malik: "I had never gone anywhere to comeback"

MUMBAI: Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Shootout At Wadala’ will feature three songs by music composer Anu Malik while Meet Brothers and Anand Raj Anand have also composed tunes for the film.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com Malik said, “I have completed two songs and am working on third one presently. Mostly people are considering this as my comeback film but I had never gone anywhere to comeback.”

According to sources, lead actors John Abraham and Anil Kapoor will render for a composition by Meet Brothers.  Meanwhile, Mika, Anmol Malik and Mohit Chauhan have been roped in to sing for Malik. Anmol, daughter of Anu Malik began her singing career at the age of 7 in the movie Diljale and has also sung in films like Umrao Jaan and Ugly Aur Pagli.

Anu Malik who had hits like 'Main Hoon Na', Refugee, 'Baazigar' amongst others said, “It’s quiet humbling and flattering that people need Anu Malik. They have heard every other music composer but people are missing my style of melody and music.”

He added, “I am going with my heart for melody and beats for ‘Shootout at Wadala’ . Songs will feature retro style of late 70’s and early 80’s.” He expressed that re-creating magic of earlier 80’s songs was a really tough battle.

Malik who has been judging the television phenomenon 'Indian Idol' for the last six seasons also recently performed at Lagos in Nigeria with Indian Idol 6 winner Vipul Mehta and final contestant Poorvi Koutish. Malik is currently working on the songs of Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer.

The music of ‘Shootout At Wadala’ is expected to be out by February 2013 and the film is due to release on 1 May 2013. The film stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar and Kangna Ranaut.
