Amit Kumar to launch digital label 'Kumar Brothers Music'

MUMBAI: Amit Kumar, son of legendary singer Kishore Kumar has decided to foray into online music business with digital record label ‘Kumar Brothers Music’.

The online music store is the brain-child of Sumit, second son of Kishore Kumar. Amit is the proprietor of the company that will be launched within two-three months.

The first album ‘Haan, Main Badnaam Hoon’ for the label is recorded at Gauri Kunj Bungalow. The album consists of eight-tracks sung by Amit and penned by Leena (Chandavarkar), wife of late Kishore Kumar.  This will be the first album that will be available in the online store.

Kumar highlighted that melody, comedy and lyrical value will be reflected in true sense in his album. He has not followed the new trend of regular Humpty Dumpty songs in Indian Film Industry. He aims to cater to niche audience, “My main aim is that any reputed artist in India can publish their music without any creative interference or compromise,” he added.

Amit has lately been in news for the popular track ‘Nainon Mein Sapna’, recreation of original track from 1983 'Himmatwala'.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Kumar said, “I have sung the track of ‘Himmatwala’ with energy. I had earlier sung ‘Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna’ for Jhankar Beats which was also the remix of Kishore Kumar’s song. I enjoyed doing both the tracks. I thought I would get a new track to sing in Himmatwala but I got the old one that was recorded 30 years ago. That was a hit in 1983 and now it is a bigger hit.”

However, he has taken a back seat from bollywood, “I am not depended on the industry and there are people who think what will happen to me. But the reality is that I am happy with my stage shows and that is my livelihood. Every month I have four-five stage shows,” he said.

He further added, “Film industry is a very insecure industry and the biggies who are there are also insecure of what will happen. I am open to offers and if they call me with respect then I am there to sing.”

He plans to make Kumar Music a very transparent company where he would promote artistes and give them their share of royalty and get his share of two per cent. “In three-four years, everything will be digital I foresee it and stores like this will be a good option. I am aware that this is a gamble, let’s see what happens,” he added.

After Sajid Khan’s 'Himmatwala', Amit has received offers for two-three films. He said, “'Himmatwala' music has given me the strength. I am singing for a superstar in a big budget film that will be releasing in Diwali.”
