Ambika Soni agrees to set up FM station in Shimoga

MUMBAI: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has assured a Karnataka delegation to sanction an FM station in Shimoga, Karnataka.

The delegation is led by by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, reports PTI.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was in Delhi to attend a two-day BJP executive meeting, called on Ms. Soni and requested that Shimoga, which is an education hub and a tourist centre be sanctioned an FM radio station, official sources here said on Saturday.

Additionally, Soni has also said that the centre was eager to establish many low power TV transmitter stations in different parts of Karnataka where Doordarshan does not have a reach.
